You are probably thinking you must diet to lose fat. Nothing could be farther from true. With few exceptions, most people were born into normal weight bodies. We then learned to diet.
Dieting makes the body to go into survival mode. Dieting itself ignites the extreme biological urge to consume mass quantities of bad foods. It causes the bodies instincts to override all intellectual controls, and primes the body to maximize food intake, while minimizing energy burned.
Dieting sets us up to fight against our own physical survival, the bodies most basic instinct. To compare, how difficult would your life be if you were required to go to the bathroom on a rigid schedule. How would it be if you only allowed yourself to urinate 3 times a day? At 8 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. you could excrete only 6 ounces. You would measure it to be sure it was the right amount. If you necessary to go more, you would hold it until the next scheduled time. If you needed to go at 10 am, you would hold it until noon. You would be quite miserable, and your body would have a very difficult time complying with such a schedule. It would likely be quite ugly. Would it not?
Overeating when your body refuses to starve does not make you a failure. You are human. You are not diseased. You are not flawed forever. You are not permanently sick, and unable to recover for the rest of your life. You did the best you could at the time. Forgive yourself and move forward.
Eating is natural and your body knows exactly what it needs to perform at the very best. You must practice listening to your body and acting on the information. Your body knows what it needs, and when it needs it. Breathing, reproduction, and healing are fine examples of how intelligent your body is. You can learn alot from watching children. When tired, they rest. They play as much as possible because it feels good. It is fun for them. They are very picky about what they eat. They will go hungry before they eat something they dislike. They eat when they are hungry.
When full, they have to be tricked or bribed into eating more. They drink when thirsty. They love their bodies and do not care how their body appears. They do not have to think about these things. They come naturally and easily, as they should to any human.
These natural instincts are in all adults, too. We have the innate ability to take care of ourselves. We have to get back into the habit of listening to our bodies, and following their guidance. A normal body weight is your birthright. It was taken from you. You can take it back. Stop thinking you are doomed to be fat forever. You are not doomed. Let your former fat self fade into the past. It has served you well to this point. It has kept you alive, but now it the time to change.
When you stop dieting and start accepting the body you were born with, you can return to your unique, normal weight. I will not suggest that everyone is going to become skinny models. The pressure to be thin is a major part of the problem. Some bodies were meant to be soft and curvy. Others were created sharp and angular. Beauty exists in diversity.
Accepting and loving the uniqueness of your body will heal you, setting you free. Be child like. Enjoy the body you have. Cherish the power of your muscles. Enjoy feeling alive on this planet. You do not need to look a certain way. Be yourself. Someone else can try to be like the models or celebrities. The world is better having the real, unique person that you are.
Believe you can heal. Believe that you can naturally be at your own ideal weight. Faith is a huge part of what will set you free. Normal eating is natural. You intuitively know how to do it.
