Turn on the tv, read magazines and surf the internet. You’ll see numerous ads on diets for weight loss. Some of those diets do more harm than good because you end up denying your body the vital nutrients it needs.
These diets end up slowing down your metabolism, which is counter productive because a healthy metabolism is an integral part to fat loss.
You know, I am a firm believer that weight loss need not be a complicated issue. Peddlers of weight loss plans have helped to make fat loss more complicated than it actually is because doing so helps to sell more diet plans. Shedding weight has always been dependent on 3 pillars – proper diet, exercise and rest.
Implementing these 3 pillars is gonna take discipline and a shift in lifestyle. It is a lack of discipline and misinformation that thwarts many people efforts to lose fat.
Many diets for weight loss are leading people down the wrong path. For example, the idea of drastically cutting calories to shed weight is very harmful. I have heard stories on adults cutting down their intake to 700 calories a day! How such a person would find the energy to do anything is beyond me.
Now, having said that; an overweight person must safely restrict his calorie intake. One way to do so is to eat healthy foods that more quickly triggers the “I am full feeling” to your brain and keeps you feeling full for a longer period of time.
You see, junk food is tasty – no question. It is often loaded with sugars which triggers a “feel good feeling” within you when you you eat it.
But eating high sugary foods causes insulin to flood your bloodstream. The insulin soaks up the excess sugar and stores it for later use. In so doing, your brain, other organs and muscles are deprived of energy they need. This leads to the infamous “sugar crash” that many experience after a meal.
So what happens next, you eat more sugary foods to get your energy up – thus the cycle begins again.
One of the ways to avoid this cycle is to eat healthy high satiety foods. Diets for weight loss should contain healthy high satiety foods because when you eat those foods – not only are you getting vital nutrients but these foods fill you up quickly and leave you feeling full for longer. Hence, eating these foods makes it less likely for you to binge on high sugary foods.
For permanent fat loss, what you need a nutrition plan that will accelerate fat loss and promote the building of lean muscle and give you all the energy you need throughout the day.
