Knox County, which received $237,000 in terms of supplies and personnel who will oversee the vaccination program, started vaccinating their citizens as of October last year. Among those prioritized for the vaccine are pregnant women, medical personnel and specific age groups of people and those in special circumstances.
Other cities in the US have also started with their vaccination programs to fight the swine flu virus. The rest of the world is also trying their best to get their share of the swine flu virus vaccine before another wave of the swine flu virus sweeps the world.
The world may be experiencing a lull in the reported cases of swine flu virus victims but most governments are not sitting down and are demanding for vaccines to protect their citizens before they are once again caught in n unexpected pandemic.
National Vaccine Program Office director Bruce Gellin said the best defense to a pandemic is really a vaccine that will protect people from the swine flu virus.
