It is said that human blood pH should be slightly alkaline in the range of 7.35 – 7.45. Below or above this range means there is a better chance for disease to occur in the body. A pH of 7.0 is considered to be neutral. When our pH is below 7.0 this means we are acidic and a pH above 7.0 is alkaline on a pH scale.
An acidic pH can occur from many things such as; an unhealthy diet, toxins found in our water/food/air, high stress levels, and anything that deprives our cells of the proper oxygen and nutrients. Our body is continually trying to maintain an alkaline state and uses what we fuel our body to maintain these levels.
You can think of our body like an engine in a car, if you never change the oil or do proper maintenance…eventually it will break down. The same goes for our body if we always fuel our body with acidic foods, drink unhealthy water, live in toxic environments, do not detox or provide our body with exercise, it will eventually break down.
In our North American society, higher levels of acidosis is quite common and is mostly due to our diet, which is often made up of highly acidic foods such as; meats, dairy, fatty oils, liquor, pop, processed foods, fast food and sweets to name some. We consume far to low in the alkalizing foods like fresh vegetables. There is just so much selection out there in our foods. The best is to try and go back to the basics and only eat foods that grow naturally in this world.
An acidic pH balance will:
- decrease the body’s ability to absorb nutrients & minerals
- decrease the energy production in cells
- decrease its ability to repair damaged cells
- decrease its ability to detoxify toxins
- decrease its ability to detoxify heavy metals
The problem is we as a society are not educated enough on what is an alkaline food and what is an acidic food. Just by eating a healthy diet we can greatly affect our body’s pH levels. After all no disease can live in an alkaline environment, but can thrive in an acidic environment.
From the words of Dr. Mercola: Vegetables contain phytochemicals, which are powerful natural agents to promote health. They will also help to alkalize your system, as most of us are far too acidic. Most people benefit more from increased vegetables than from extra vitamins. You will normally need a large amount of vegetables to optimize your body’s pH acid/alkaline balance.
Most experts recommend a diet of 80% Alkaline and 20% Acidic. If you can maintain this diet, often times you will have much more energy in your body and a better chance at maintaining an alkaline pH balance.

Thank you for speaking the truth about just how important our pH levels are! Here at Suede Hills Organic Farm (www.suedehills.com) we are constantly educating people about their pH level. One of the things that people don’t seem to understand is that their body needs minerals in order to escort out the acids created by the “food” we put into our bodies.
One of the best, yet least known mineral sources, is mature green leaf Alfalfa Powder. The extensive root system on these certified organic Alfalfa plants grown at Suede Hills, are responsible for the full compliment of minerals and vitamins that the soil has to offer being delivered to you in an easy to digest form.
We have found that keeping our body alkaline with Alfalfa and a wide range of fresh fruit has been the key to our overall well being and 60 pound total weight reduction. We are healthier at age 51 and 67 than the majority of our counterparts. And we still enjoy a healthy sex life too! We are happy to share “how we have done all of this “, just contact us, info@suedehills.com
