This is a toxic world that we live in. The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land that produces the produce we consume have become contaminated with industrial and chemical wastes. Many of us are deficient in nutrients and some have ballooned to obesity because of an unhealthy lifestyle of fatty foods and inactivity. In North America, highly processed foods and fast food meals are major elements of the basic diet.
People need to become more aware of the fact that a large amount of unhealthy substances go into the foods they eat on a daily basis. For instance, just about everything that comes in a pack contains Monosodium Glutamate or MSG which is an addictive substance added to improve the taste of foods. What is even more surprising is that some organic foods also contain this ingredient.
Because of the hectic lifestyle of this modern age, we have resorted to eating foods laden with chemical preservatives and fats and this has adversely affected our health. We take in unwelcome substances with almost every meal we consume thus our bodies have become toxic and over acidic. Something drastic has to be done in order to prevent health problems in the future and the good news is that nature has already provided an answer – hemp seeds!
Hemp seeds have the highest quality nutrients and the right balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential oils, vitamin E, linoleic acid, and trace minerals. They are also 33% protein.
A lot of diets these days do not have the correct balance of nutrients. A calcium supplement for example, has to be taken with magnesium or something acidic like diluted vinegar or lemon juice in order to for it to be absorbed by the body. It is the same for Omega 3 and Omega 6. The cells of the body need both of these because the absence of one may result in an imbalance.
An excellent source of Omega 3 and 6 are fish oils. The problem with these however is that they create an aftertaste. There is also the possibility that some of the fish may have been contaminated by pollutants. Hemp seeds are a good alternative. Cold pressed hemp oil may be used as an ingredient in your salad dressing. It has a pleasant nutty taste which can spice up any meal. Hemp seeds can also be ground to make nut butter and even made into milk in place of the kind you usually drink. To make homemade hemp milk, follow the recipe below:
Ingredients:
2 cups of hulled hemp seeds
Very hot water
Blender
Colander
Hemp cloth or cheese cloth
Procedure:
Place the hemp seeds in the blender. Add hot water filling about ¾ of the way. Put the lid in the blender and hold it in place. Set the blender on low and turn it on. Increase the speed gradually until it reaches to high and blend for a few minutes. Put the colander in a large bowl and line it with the cheesecloth. Slowly pour all the milk into the colander then gather the four corners of the cheesecloth and squeeze out the remaining liquid. Pour the milk into a container with a lid and refrigerate. Use the like regular milk.
Hemp seeds contain all the essential fatty acids needed for detoxifying the system and for restoring the proper acid and alkaline balance of the body. It is important that this balance is maintained because an overly acidic body is fertile ground for disease. The other health benefits of hemp seeds include improved cardiovascular health, better skin and more lustrous hair.
