If you are one of the many smokers that continue to put off quitting because you don’t think the time is right or if you are just afraid of failure, then one thing is already for certain, you will likely never quit! Procrastination is the biggest reason that most smokers can not quit. It is not because it can not be done because too many other tobacco smokers have already proven that to be false. If you ask them if it was easy, chances are they will tell you that it was very difficult, but also very worth it once they had gotten used to living without tobacco in their life.
You might be one of those who just does not know exactly where to begin or how to start. There is one thing about being human and that is that most of us do have a hard time getting ourselves to commit to suffering voluntarily and giving up cigarettes will be very unpleasant, at least in the beginning. Of course, there are those rare few that seemed to be able to lay them down without much difficulty, but that is not the case for most. If you are searching for the best time to start quitting, that is easy enough to figure out, it is just taking that first step that is hard.
For the majority of tobacco smokers, the first thing they want when their feet hit the floor in the morning is a cigarette. It may or may not be accompanied by a cup of coffee, but it is a ritual. The thing about rituals is that they are hard to overcome. You can pick any day that you like to be your starting point, but the most important factor is to not have that first cigarette in the morning. The reason being is that you already have a head start if you will just look at it like it is. You have already more than likely been sleeping for at least four or five hours, maybe longer, and it has been that long already since you have had a cigarette. This is why most smokers want one when they first get up, your body is already screaming for the nicotine!
If you can find the will power to just resist that temptation to light up that first one, it could be easier than you think to make it through those first hours without one. By the end of the first 24 hours, your body is already beginning to cleanse itself of the nicotine. Of course, this does not mean that the desire to light a cigarette will have faded all that much, if any, but it does mean that you have made a good beginning at quitting. To stop smoking tobacco every smoker has to look inside themselves for the will power and desire to quit because you are not going to find it anywhere else. If you do not really want to quit, then chances are you will not be successful.
