Do you know how many people die every year from tobacco smoking related illnesses and diseases? It is estimated that over 200,000 people die from smoking and that does not include many more thousands that are sick and bedridden awaiting their turn to die because of the deadly habit. Most people that take up smoking never give much thought to what the future will bring them because of tobacco and they go through their days mindlessly smoking cigarette after cigarette like they will live forever. Of course, no one, not even non smokers live forever, but rest assured, your chances are much better for living a much longer and much healthier life if you never smoke.
What many smokers do not realize is that even after the body begins to suffer the consequences of smoking tobacco, there is hope for healing if they would only stop right away. The longer you smoke tobacco, the more damage is caused to your entire body, not just your lungs. The sooner you stop smoking, the better your chances are for the body to begin repairing that damage and for some people quitting sooner rather than later could mean that after a time, it might be like you never smoked at all.
It is never too late to stop smoking. Many long time smokers will often be heard saying that it would do them no good to quit now. How wrong they are! It is always the right thing to do to stop smoking. Even if you have smoked for 50 years, why not not make the next however many years you have left more enriched by giving up tobacco? It could mean that you will breathe better, have more energy and could very well mean the difference between developing a cancer or other serious disease or not. That is plenty of reason to go ahead and quit.
Most smokers believe that they could never live without cigarettes, but that is only the way it seems at the time. Once a smoker has actually managed to quit smoking, many of them will find that they can finally know what it feels like to go through their day like a normal person does that has never smoked. It is wonderful to not be tied to a cigarette and have it constantly interfering with everything you go to do. A smoker can not realize very easily how much smoking does interfere with everyday things until they have given it up and have learned once again what it is like to live without it.
