One way to get rid of excess weight safely and effectively is by going on a sensible weight loss diet.

The kind of dieting we are referring to here is not the type that drastically cuts down caloric intake but rather that which provides dieters with better food options. Making wise food choices is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. This diet that best utilizes this principle is the high-fiber diet. There are two kinds of fibers soluble and insoluble. Although each type works differently, both promote weight loss and enhance health and well. Among the foods that are rich in fiber are fruits, leafy vegetables, whole grains, oat, bran and legumes. For people who want to add more fiber to their diet without having to eat more, a fiber supplement is a good option.
There are two choices available psyllium and flax. It used to be that psyllium was considered to be the better one between the two. However, more recent studies have shown that flax is actually more ideal.

There are several reasons for this. First, flax has a higher antioxidant content which is basically the reason why it is now said to be superior to psyllium. Second, flax does not cause constipation whereas psyllium often does. Lastly, the use of psyllium may lead to dehydration because it absorbs more water in the system than flax. Not convinced?
