Face it. Smoking is a nasty, nasty habit that at this point you regret ever taking up. You find that years of letting tar into your lungs has slowed you down. You are not breathing nearly as well as you used to. Your breath smells bad, and your teeth are stained. You are sick of your senses of smell and taste being so dulled down. You want out. You want to quit. But you are not sure that you have the constitution or will power to be able to quit. Here are some tips that should help you be able to build up the will power to be able to kick nicotine out of your life.

The first thing you need to do is kick the nicotine out of your life. This means rounding p everything from your cigarettes to your lighters to your ash trays. You need to get rid of them and remove any and all temptation to light up. You need to be able to develop the will power to not buy cigarettes, and a big part of what will help you do that is to tell yourself repeatedly that you are no longer a smoker and that you will never smoke again. It does not matter if you have smoked within an hour of making the decision to quit, it will be just as valid of a statement as it would than if you were to have decided it tomorrow. Breaking the smoking mentality is one of the most important, as well as difficult steps, and it is one you should try to take as soon as possible.

You should also talk to your doctor and get yourself checked for any problems you may have developed as a result of your smoker. This includes checking for any kind of respiratory illness and the like. You need to also be sure to ask him if there are any other measures that can be taken to help you quit. If you arrive at the decision to try using nicotine gum or patches, be sure to keep in mind that they are not crutches. The only thing that is going to make you be able to curb cravings is yourself. Gum and patches are only aids in your goal, not the solution.

You should also be sure to have somebody that you can talk to for support whenever you feel that a craving is too strong.
