Consequences From Smoking Can Haunt You Physically For Years

Most people envision that years of smoking will cause you to get cancer and then you will die. Well, that is very true in many cases, but what they often do not let their thoughts linger on are all of those intervening years when your health is compromised, but perhaps not seriously enough to kill you yet. The road to death is not nearly always quick in coming to an end. You can start out with mild physical issues and gradually increase and worsen over years. Years of agonizing stress and sickness that will literally haunt you everyday.
Smoking causes so many damages to the body it is difficult to know where to start. Although cancer does not always develop, things like heart disease and artery disease can be just as difficult to deal with. When artery disease caused from smoking begins to affect you, many of your organs can be at risk for further damage because of a lack of blood flow from damaged arteries. All of the medical terminology is terribly hard to understand, but the gist of the matter is that closed arteries do not allow adequate blood to get where it needs to go.
This can cause blood pressure problems that can really interfere with your life. You will probably end up on all kinds of expensive medications that you more than likely will have to take the rest of your life. You might find yourself in and out of the emergency room in the middle of the night or anytime at all with a sky rocketing blood pressure level. You never know when a stroke or heart attack will be right around the corner. Talk about living under stress and of course. Living under this kind of stress only multiplies the anxiety which compounds the potential for raised blood pressure.
How does the future for a smoker sound so far? Not all smokers develop this particular problem, it is only one of many that can strike a smoker that has been at it for a while. The only way a smoker has any chance at all is to stop the deadly habit before these serious damages take place. For some smokers that stop soon enough, some damage will heal itself, but for others, it will already be done and might not ever get any better. The choice is up to each individual smoker whether or not they will choose to be healthier in their older age or literally suffer through the what ever years they might have left.
